1) This meeting welcomes the appointment of the first Consultants in Public Health Medicine under the recent agreement  and calls on the Department of Health and HSE to ensure full implementation of the wider agreement across all domains of public health

2) This meeting notes the difficulty in recruiting Senior Medical Officers/Senior Area Medical Officers and calls on the HSE to engage with the IMO on recruitment and career planning for this grade. In particular we would seek a review of the staffing levels in Public and Community Health Departments in light of the agreed staffing levels and the needs of the service and patients, and to identify blockages to recruitment.

3) This meeting condemns the failure by the HSE, Department of Health and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform to follow the agreed process for bargaining units and seeks urgent progression of the IMO Claims under the Bargaining Unit Process.

“This AGM, on behalf of all members, fully supports our NCHDs and their #standingUP4NCHDs campaign and ballot for industrial action.  The unsafe and illegal working hours, huge financial burdens and levels of burnout and stress faced by NCHDs will no longer be tolerated. We call on Government and the HSE to recognise and seriously address the challenges and inequities faced by our colleagues who are the consultants, GPs, public and community health doctors of the future.”
