Update on Guidance for Vaccinated Healthcare Workers
The HSE has issued a new memo taking into account the emerging evidence regarding vaccine efficacy. You can read a copy of the memo here.
As per the terms of the memo, healthcare workers (HCWs) who have completed vaccination and who are identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case (other than a suspected or confirmed ‘variant of concern’) are no longer required to restrict their movement, or undergo testing or monitoring unless there are specific concerns identified following a risk assessment.
In addition, HCWs over seventy years of age who have completed mRNA vaccination and HCWs with underlying conditions (who are not immunosuppressed / high risk) and who have completed vaccination, may now be referred to Occupational Health for an assessment of their fitness for work.
We would encourage you to read the memo closely and as ever, the details contained in this memo remain open to change in light of emerging evidence.
