As Chair of the IMO Consultant Committee I would like to thank you and all your colleagues for your ongoing support of the IMO. Your membership enables us to provide a strong voice for consultants, and all other doctors, working in our health services as we all struggle on a daily basis to deliver safe and timely care for our patients.

 

The work of the IMO is critically important particularly in circumstances where there is an effective recruitment freeze across the system and insufficient capacity to support consultants in meeting patient needs. We are also here to help you, as an individual, with any contract issues you may be experiencing, whether that be in terms of the Public Only Contract 2023 or any of the previous contracts which you may be working to.

 

The coming year will present new challenges as we await the formation of a Government and a new Health Minister and I can assure you that the IMO is committed to representing the profession and advocate for adequate resources for our services.

 

Many of us will be working over the Christmas and New Year period and the IMO will be available during this time to provide support and assistance to members – please email consultants@imo.ie and our colleagues in IMO Member Advisory Services will respond.
