Consultants are generally entitled to 30 days of annual leave.

The annual leave year runs per calendar year, 01st January – 31st December. You are not permitted to ‘carry’ any unused leave over to a new leave year aside from in very exceptional circumstances and with prior employer approval.

The max duration that annual leave can be brought forward is 6-months i.e. leave carried from this year must be used by the  end of June 2021.

Your employer may assign annual leave on your behalf but must consult with you before doing so.

You are also entitled to 10 Public Holidays. If you are required to work on the date of a Public Holiday you will receive the appropriate over-time rate for this and one of the following:

1. A paid day off within the month
2. An extra day of annual leave
3. An extra day’s pay

 

Annual leave is not transferrable between posts in different hospitals. If you are leaving a post and have outstanding annual leave or public holiday allowances, you will receive renumeration in respect of this leave.
