We refer to the sectoral bargaining process in our previous communications. At the reconvened hearing of the WRC last week, further attempts to mediate this dispute between the IMO and the employer continued but were ultimately unsuccessful. As a result the conciliation officer has agreed to refer the matter to the Labour Court for final adjudication and we are currently awaiting a date for hearing in this regard.

 

It is the IMO view that the employer is in breach of the national pay agreement Building Momentum and we intend to vindicate our members’ rights and entitlements under the agreement and will be arguing for same before the Labour Court.

 

We will update all members once we are in receipt of a date for the Labour Court hearing and hope that this will finally bring some long overdue resolution to the outstanding sectoral bargaining issues.
